UK FSA Pushes for Regulatory Reform to Streamline Cultivated Meat Approval Process
The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) is advancing regulatory reforms aimed at simplifying the approval process for cultivated meat and novel foods, accelerating their entry into the market.
These reforms will reduce the complexity of the existing approval process, helping innovative foods reach consumers more quickly. In particular, the changes will enable products based on cultivated meat and precision fermentation technologies to be introduced to the market faster, marking a significant turning point for the development of a sustainable food industry.

Simple Planet Selected for Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Scale-up TIPS Program with Cell-Cultured Functional Biomaterials
Simple Planet, a company developing future food and functional bio-materials using cell culture technology, has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Scale-up TIPS (Tech Investor Program for Scale-up).
The Scale-up TIPS program aims to help promising small businesses expand globally by attracting investment from private investors, with additional R&D funding provided by the government. Through this selection, Simple Planet will receive up to 1.2 billion KRW (approximately $900,000) in R&D support over the next three years, accelerating the development of its cell-cultured functional materials.
Simple Planetโs strong research achievements and innovative production technologies were key factors in its selection. CEO Jeong Il-Doo stated, โBuilding on our existing cell culture technology, we plan to enhance research and development not only for cultivated meat, but also for functional bio-materials used in health foods and cosmetics. By producing high-purity chondroitin sulfate, we aim to reduce import dependency, strengthen domestic market competitiveness, and pioneer new markets across various industries.โ
