"Cultivated Meat Gaining Popularity Across Asia-Pacific Region"The popularity and awareness of cultivated meat (also known as alternative proteins or lab-grown meat) continue to grow across countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
A survey conducted last October with a total of 6,163 respondents from the Asia and Oceania regions revealed that 81% of participants stated that sustainability/environmental friendliness is either βessentialβ or βdesirableβ when making food and beverage purchase decisions.
Susmita Vynagari, an analyst at GlobalData, noted, βCountries in the Asia-Pacific region are turning to cultivated meat production, driven by technological advancements and improved consumer awareness of sustainability. Consumers are increasingly showing a preference for alternative protein sources, demonstrating a shift toward accepting and choosing cultivated meat products.β

Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs Implements Green Bioindustry Promotion LawThe Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) announced that it will implement new regulations to promote the green bioindustry starting January 3.
The green bioindustry refers to sectors that apply biotechnology to agricultural biological resources to create added value across agriculture and its upstream and downstream industries. This includes industries related to seeds, microorganisms, insects, natural products, food ingredients, and veterinary medicines.
A representative from the Korea Biotechnology Industry Organization emphasized the need to enhance government R&D support for the relatively underdeveloped green biosector. They also called for active participation from regulatory agencies such as the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and MAFRA to establish policies for future foods, including cultivated meat.

10 Breakthrough Technologies Set to Transform Life in 2025 β Including Cow Burp ReducersThe MIT Technology Review, a publication from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), has announced its selection of the 10 breakthrough technologies to watch for in 2025.
Among these, a standout innovation aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a supplement designed to reduce cow burps. Cow burps are a significant source of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, making reductions in these emissions critical to achieving climate goals.
Recently, companies have been racing to develop feed additives that help cut down on methane emissions from cows. For example, the Dutch company DSM-Firmenich has developed an additive called Bovaer, which has been shown to reduce methane emissions by as much as 30%.

Why Drink 4,500 KRW βFake Coffeeβ? Hereβs the Surprising ReasonCoffee is facing a crisis of extinction. Climate change has reduced the area suitable for cultivation, causing coffee bean prices to soar. Additionally, coffee production and distribution are significant sources of carbon emissions, making it a symbol of unsustainable food practices.
To address these challenges, alternative coffee has been developed. It aims to overcome the limitations of traditional coffee beans while ensuring sustainable production.
Alternative coffee mimics the taste and aroma of regular coffee using ingredients such as chicory, dandelion roots, and herbs. Some of these ingredients even provide a stimulant effect that can replace caffeine, offering a new approach to enjoying coffee without relying on conventional beans.
